Commercial
Litigation
We
appreciate that litigation is an expensive
and time consuming process, which often
leaves all parties, including the winner,
feeling dissatisfied. Business disputes
are however a fact of life and every commercial
transaction has the potential to produce
disagreement. Our approach therefore is
to explore with clients from the outset
what their objective is in any dispute and
to seek to identify the most speedy and
cost-effective route to that end.
The
courtroom is increasingly seen as the weapon
of last resort and many more disputes are
settled by negotiation. If litigation proves
inevitable, we seek to establish with our
clients a strategy to achieve the agreed goal,
balancing this, at all stages of litigation,
with costs.
Our
solicitors have experience in handling a wide
range of matters from major disputes to simple
debt collection and in particular the following:
· Contractual disputes
· Debt recovery
· Shareholder disputes
· Agency and Distribution disputes
· Property litigation
Employment
We
live in an age where the rights of employees
and the duties of employers continue to
become ever more complex and our services
are designed to meet the specific needs
of our clients, whether employees or employers.
Lake
Jackson understands that the quality of service
in the employment sector frequently revolves
around the speed of response as well as the
quality of the advice and we focus on getting
to the heart of the matter quickly. The consequences
of making a mistake in Employment Law can
mean bad publicity, demotivated staff and
expensive Tribunal awards. We therefore work
hard to maintain our reputation for high quality,
fast and friendly advice for the maximum benefit
of our clients.
Our

Personal
injury
We
act exclusively for the victims of accidents
and have a wide range of experience in personal
injury claims.
Many
clients ask us about claims assessors and
other claimant representatives who advertise
on television, but those people are not able
to act for a claimant in court proceedings.
The only way to ensure that a claim is handled
properly is to instruct a personal injury
solicitor, with whom a client will have direct
contact throughout their case.
Most
accident claims can be settled within 18 months,
but some claims may take longer if, for example
an insurer disputes the claim and court proceedings
have to be issued. Our clients can be assured
however that it is in all our interests to
win the case and to do so as quickly and cost
effectively as possible.
We
have the latest information technology to
ensure that we work efficiently and we have
an in-depth knowledge and database of expert
witnesses to ensure the best support for our
client’s claims.
One
of our partners is a member of the Association
of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).

Crime
Although
Lake Jackson has a criminal contract from
the Legal Services Commission, the majority
of our criminal work is conducted on behalf
of the Police Federation. We do however
offer clients private rates for criminal
matters such as Road Traffic offences, prosecutions
under the Health and Safety Legislation
and prosecutions under the Foods Safety
Standards Act.
We
understand that any criminal prosecution is
serious for the person or organisation against
whom it is directed and we aim to deal sympathetically
and promptly with all clients and to obtain
the best possible results for them.
Our
solicitors have wide experience of both prosecution
and defence work and are members of the London
Criminal Court Solicitors Association. One
partner is a former senior prosecutor and
the other, a current Police Station and Court
Duty Solicitor
